THE WRITING HOUSE
A Home for Writing, Learning, and Meaningful Work
WELCOME
Welcome to The Writing House. This is where I do the work I care most about, in service of people and ideas worth the effort. It's small on purpose, and still being built, one honest step at a time.
MISSION
The Writing House started because I kept saying yes to the same kind of work — helping people find the words and the funding to make something real. It's grown into a practice built around writing, fundraising, consulting, and teaching, all in service of one thing - good ideas that deserve to exist.
HOW THE WRITING HOUSE HELPS
Writing
Clear, honest prose for the people and causes that need it — from grant narratives to personal projects.
Fundraising & Grant Development
Helping good ideas find the resources to become real, from first concept to funded reality.
Consulting
Helping organizations clarify ideas, solve problems, and bring important work forward.
Teaching & Workshops
Workshops, facilitation, and educational experiences centered on writing, grant development, learning, and the practice of meaningful work.
SIX COMMITMENTS
Contribution - I want what I know to be useful to someone else.
Learning never really stops, and I don't want it to.
Teaching — the good kind — means giving away what took you years to figure out.
Creativity - Make things, and make them well.
Community - You have to choose it. It doesn't just happen.
Beauty - The feeling when something made actually matters.
"The Writing House is central to my belief structure. I want to live a life I actually chose — built on being useful, staying curious, making things, and staying connected to people who matter to me. I am building my life around the idea that these things belong together.”
— Emily English
THE RULE
Every project that carries this name is tested against one question:
Does this help create a life of meaningful work, flourishing relationships, and lifelong curiosity?
If yes, continue.
